The geek nights are a way for local web developers, designers, programmers, neophiles or geeks of any other stripe to get together, chat, drink and listen to talks on new technologies and innovations.

= Keynote talks =

* "Songkick: A Home for Live Music Online", by Ian Hogarth, CEO and co-founder at Songkick.com Limited
* "Please Buy my Record: The Futility of Flogging Music", by Rhodri Marsden, tech writer and cyberclinician for the Independent's Science and Technology supplement

We'll also be having a quick question-and-answer session after the keynotes, on the future of online music.

= Return of the Geek Troubadour! =

Ben Walker, the Geek Troubadour from OGN3, will be opening for OGN8's musical-themed keynoters. Turn up early to hear his dulcet tones and off-kilter lyrics.

= Microslots =

* Got Your Number! Taking credit card payments online - your options, security issues and regulations, by Rachel Andrew
* The open web, by Marcus Povey
* Django 1.0, by James Turnbull
* Server evaporation: replacing stagnant servers with the clouds, by Ze Stuart

We've got our fill for OGN8, but want to submit a microslot for OGN9 on October 22? Let us know at the URL below:

(OGN8 is a FREE event, kindly sponsored by Torchbox, Google and Moo.)

Thinking of driving over from Essex for this, certainly seems worth my while. I know it's free entry but just wondering if I need to pre-register?

No need to pre-register, just turn up ;)
