The Misfortunates is a humorous tale of debauchery, pathos and growing up that finds hope and resurrection amidst the moral depravity and lecherous behavior that a teenage boy's father and uncles indulge in on a daily basis. Everything points to 13-year-old Gunther (Kenneth Vanbaeden) suffering the same fate...but will the young man yet manage to escape his misfortune?

This is Belgium's official entry in the Motion Picture Academy's Foreign Language Film Category. Winner of the Best Picture, Best Screenplay and Best Cinematography awards at the 2009 Hamptons Film Festival.
