Orpheum Theatre in Foxboro Announces Auditions for Hairspray December 18, 2010

The Orpheum Theatre in Foxboro today announced it will be holding auditions for its upcoming production of Hairspray on Saturday, December 18, from 10:00 a.m. - 12:00 p.m.

HAIRSPRAY delighted audiences by sweeping them away to Baltimore in the 1960's, where the 50's are out and change is in the air. Loveable plus-sized heroine, Tracy Turnblad, has a passion for dancing, and wins a spot on the local TV dance program, "The Corny Collins Show." Overnight she finds herself transformed from outsider to teen celebrity. Can a larger-than-life adolescent manage to vanquish the program's reigning princess, integrate the television show, and find true love (singing and dancing all the while of course!) without mussing her hair?

Actors and singers of all ages and creeds are encouraged to audition. Auditionees will be asked to prepare 16 bars from the show. Callbacks will be held later that afternoon starting at 1:00 p.m.

HAIRSPRAY show dates are February 4 - 13 at the Orpheum Theater in Foxboro, and will be directed and choreographed by Dori Bryan. Shuttle services from the Mansfield commuter rail to the Orpheum Theatre in Foxboro will be provided for cast members who live in Boston and wish to take the T.
