Event Description

ORIENTED Dialogue & Exchange Series Presents:

Corporate Social Responsibility and China

_____

Is Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) just the latest fad to hit China? Or is the success of companies here leading to greater awareness of Corporate Social Responsibility? The media tends to focus on China's economic growth, but other aspects of China's development need to be examined. Notably, China's rapid industrialization has led directly to concerns over environmental pollution, employee health and safety, corporate governance, and community outreach. With the government struggling to cope with the dramatic changes in the economy, how do companies in China view their role in the communities where they operate?

Oriented has invited senior executives in different industries to share their insights.

* Murray King, Chief Representative, APCO
* Carine Seror, WWF China
* Mark Steele, President of American Chamber of Commerce Shanghai CSR Committee; President of ITT Industries (China)
* William Valentino, General Manager, Bayer (China) Ltd.
* Carolyn Wu, Global Issues Manager, Nike

The discussion will center on:
* What is driving the recent rise in CSR activity in China?
* What are the objectives for companies engaging in CSR activity?
* What type of CSR programs are companies participating in?
* What particular areas of CSR are ?hotter? than others in China? Environmental protection? Education? Arts? Corporate governance? Poverty reduction? Healthcare? AIDS?
* How do companies measure the success of CSR activity?

ORIENTED is proud to present the next "ORIENTED Dialogue & Exchange" event. The Dialogue & Exchange series began last year with a spectacular Media Panel in October 2004 that was attended by over 100 professionals interested in the future of China?s media industry. After the success of the first event, ORIENTED followed up with events on Career Development, Investment Outlook, Starting a New Business, and Consumer Marketing. The Dialogue & Exchange series is unique in that it gives senior executives from various sectors and industries a chance to share their insights and thoughts on the future of China in an intimate setting.
