Want your website to display more quickly? In this Master Class, Steve Souders explains specific rules that will cut 20% to 25% off response time whenusers request pages from your site. Souders collected these best practices at his web performance jobs at Google and Yahoo!, while optimizing some of the most-visited pages on the Web. The rules he devised explain how you can improve the performance of the Ajax, CSS, JavaScript, Flash, and images that youve already built into your site.
When website response slows, many developers and administrators of high-traffic sites think the problem lies in the web server, the database, or even the hardware. But in his web performance jobs at Google and Yahoo!, Steve Souders discovered that 80% of the time it takes for a web page to load is due to inefficient web browser activity and the communication between the browser and the server.
