NOW ORCHESTRA presents ORDER/DISORDER
THE BIG ELBOW
Jonathan Wilcke - cello/alto sax/voice, Cat Toren - piano/voice, Ben Wilson - drums/electronics

The Big Elbow inadvertently and unwittingly takes its name from a pro
wrestling move, the colloquial description of the island Honshu, and
several hiking trails in North America. The band plays original compositions that frame impressionistic improvisations within socially unlikely musical contexts. The piece “Yoga,” for example, responds to the question “What if a trio of improvisers were employed to play live music for a yoga class in Kits?” They also explore the untapped realm of failed ballads with pieces from the “Appproximate Balllads [sic]” series, and perform acts of mild philosophy with the “Songs for sideways cello” series.
