Two groups presenting two different ways of improvising.

The Orchestra of the Upper Atmosphere moved from being a studio only project to become a six piece live-improvising rock group in early 2011 being compared to acts such as Faust, Amon Duul, Magma, Sun Ra and Terry Riley. The players are:

Martin Archer – organ, saxes
Chris Bywater – organ, laptop
Sarah Henderson – electric violin
Terry Todd – bass guitar
Steve Dinsdale – drums
Walt Shaw – drums

Support comes from Juxtavoices, Martin Archer’s 25+ voice semi improvising anti-choir. Expect chants, noise, controlled chaos, sound sculpture and pure theatre from this real one-off ensemble which breaks all the rules.
