In collaboration with the Consulate General of Italy in Mumbai, the Italian Cultural Institute in New Delhi and the Mehli Mehta Music Foundation. Founded in 1966, the Orchestra di Padova e del Veneto is one of the foremost performing chamber ensembles in Italy. The Orchestra`s annual programme of activities is extensive comprising concerts in regional centres, guest performances for renowned Italian chamber music festivals and international tours. Peter Maag, critically acclaimed as one of the world`s renowned performers of Mozart repertoire, has been the Principal Conductor of the ensemble from 1983 to 2001. The Orchestra has been distinguished by the number of top musicians and acclaimed soloists who have joined its ranks and an outstanding list of international guest conductors with whom it has played. It has several music recordings to its credit. In addition to playing, the Orchestra maintains a strong commitment to educational activities that provide quality musical programmes and experiences for students of all ages. In 1994, it was appointed as the sole concertistic and orchestral Institution of the Veneto Region, gaining recognition for all its activities.
