Opera San Jose - Classical Music Series June 4, 2011

Opera San José, performing at the historic California Theatre in downtown San José, is a professional, regional opera company that is unique in the United States. Maintaining a resident company of principal artists, Opera San José specializes in showcasing the finest young professional singers in the nation. In addition to mainstage performances, Opera San José maintains extensive educational programs in schools and in the community at large, and offers Preview lectures and Introduction to Opera talks for all mainstage productions.

Principal artists from the Opera San José resident company will present a concert highlighting some of the greatest arias and ensembles in opera repertoire from Mozart to Puccini, and a preview of the company’s 2011-12 season which includes Mozart’s Idomeneo, Leoncavallo’s Pagliacci, Poulenc’s La voix humaine, Verdi’s La traviata, and Gounod’s Faust.

For the classic music lover in everyone, Redwood City's Classical Music Series invites you to relax to the sounds of the Opera, the Symphony and more this season. The series launches on June 4th with Opera San José, then continues on June 25th with the innovative Redwood Symphony. You won’t want to miss these free classical concerts, performed outdoors on beautiful Courthouse Square for your musical enjoyment.

Along with our Classical Music series, other exciting FREE evening events include: Jazz on Main on Mondays, Dancing on the Square on Tuesdays, Movies on the Square on Thursdays, and Music on the Square on Fridays.
