Opening reception for Tradition & Modernity: The Ceramic Art of Michelle Erickson November 12, 2010

A partner in the business Period Designs in Yorktown, Michelle Erickson has been making reproductions of 17th- and 18th-century decorative art pottery for more than 20 years for Colonial Williamsburg and the National Park Service. She uses objects and fragments from ceramic history to rediscover the mysteries of the processes and materials used to create these wares. Using these arcane techniques, she continues the historic purpose of functional ceramics to convey social messages.
