The AAAS Art Committee invites you to the opening reception for the newest exhibit in the AAAS Gallery, “Beneath the Surface: Rediscovering a World Worth Conserving.” This exhibit includes photography, drawings, paintings, and works of mixed media by Karen Hackenberg, Dana Robson, Rachel Simmons, Brian Skerry, Cleo Vilett and Wyland, all depicting the complexity and beauty of our oceans. The exhibit also includes an enormous sculpture of a coral reef that is 15 feet tall, 11 feet wide, and 1,500 pounds by Courtney Mattison.

Drinks and hors d’ouevres will be served as Simmons, Vilett, Hackenberg and Mattison will discuss their works. The reception will start at 6:00 p.m. in the AAAS Gallery at 1200 New York Ave., NW, Washington, D.C. with gallery talks scheduled to begin at 6:20 p.m. The exhibit will run through March 2.
