Born in Cleveland, Ohio, and raised in several cities throughout the country (Milwaukee, Chicago, and Atlanta), Samuel Green is now a photography student at Georgia State University. At 21 years of age, he was born and raised during the age of technology and computing. More specifically, he was raised during an era when the effects of technology, computers, and computer-aided design (known by the more ubiquitous name of "graphic design") could be felt in every aspect of life, from beginning to end.

It is from this technological and highly graphic (in terms of the saturation of our lives and societies with massive amounts of static and motion sensory input) time of existence, and its confluence into mainstream culture, that his artwork is born. More so than simply his worldview, his paintings and mixed-media creations reflect the multitude of attitudes, modes of thought, and cultures that he has come into contact with during the course of his life.

Although the motivations behind his paintings are born mainly out of an aesthetic reasoning, they are not completely without meaning. He finds himself constantly enthralled by the architectural forms of large cities, and this fascination with man-made forms, and the disticntions between natural (or organic) versus unnatural (or inorganic), design versus art, and man versus nature (or man versus the machine in some cases) constantly finds its way into his work. More than anything philosophical, he finds his paintings and various mixed media work to be a nice and tidy little universe that he creates for myself; a sprawling metropolis where he can raze and erect entire city-blocks full of skyscrapers on a whim.
