The first initiative of Dharma Megha Foundation - Bodhi Sampanna will be launched in Hyderabad on Buddha Poornima, May 9, 2009. Bodhi Sampanna, whose name means "an abode endowed with bodhi", will be a center for the study and practice of Mahayana Buddhism, following the lineage and example of Lord Buddha and the masters from the ancient Nalanda University. The center will offer teachings on various aspects of the Dharma and courses in various meditation techniques by highly learned and accomplished lamas for free. The inauguration session will be conducted on the auspicious day of the Buddha Poornima, the day of the Buddha's birth, Enlightenment and Parinirvana. An introductory teaching will be given on "The Buddha's Path to Enlightenment - A Presentation of the Four Noble Truths", which was the basis of the Buddha's first discourse seven weeks after he attained Enlightenment. The truths of suffering and its causes, the cessation of suffering and the noble path to cessation of suffering were taught by the Buddha as he believed that it is beneficial and that it leads to disenchantment, to dispassion, to cessation of suffering, to peace, to direct knowledge, to enlightenment and to Nirvana. Later on the teachings of the Awakened One were compiled in 84 000 discourses, but the essence remained the same. Buddha himself made it clear by declaring that he teaches nothing but "suffering and the end of suffering". Khangser Rinpoche will look in depth into the theory and practice of the Four Noble Truths and at their relevance to our own daily life. Rinpoche, one of the foremost Buddhist scholars and practitioners at the young age of 33, currently teaches at Sera Jey monastic university in Karnataka.Dharma Megha Foundation is a newly established cultural and educational institution that aspires to play a role in reviving the Prajna Paramita tradition in India, the land of its origin, and introduce to the precious teachings of the Buddha as many Dharma aspirants as possible. Bodhi Sampanna is the first initiative of the Foundation.
