Techniques to be covered: hollow fabrication, die-forming,
surface treatments such as keum boo,
silver reticulation, etching, metal embossing.

Demonstrations of the techniques above will be shown to students - unlike Beginning Jewelry 1 with a set outline of specific projects this Open studio allows students to create their own individual piece(s) incorporating the techniques mentioned, or working on other projects they may have.
Students will be shown how to create 3 dimensional functional/non-functional objects using hollowform fabrication with the hydraulic press, surface techniques such as: keum boo, reticulation, metal embossing, etching patterns/designs on sterling silver & copper as well as alternative stone settings for use on your pieces. Champlevé and Baisse Taille will be covered for those interested in enamel.
An understanding of metalsmithing techniques such as sawing, filing, and soldering are recommended but not necessary. Beginning students welcome.
