Open Calls - Miss Nevada Latina 2009 At Pearl September 4, 2008

Pearl Champagne Lounge the home of Latin Thursdays, BB of Salsa Reno, KM Markenting Reno and Sophia Productions are teaming up to bring you 2 LIVE OPEN CALLS for Miss Nevada Latina 2009.

Thursday, September 4th and September 11th

6 to 7:30 pm - Applications and Interviews
7:30 to 9 pm - Required dance lesson (Lesson is also open to the public)
9:30 pm - Announcements and short runway show of chosen applicants

Open to Latinas ages 18 to 26
(Under 21 applicants will have special wrist band)

Latin Thursdays will still be happening at it's regularly scheduled time during this event. The only difference is we'll have a bunch of Miss Nevada Latina Applicants taking the lesson from 7:30 to 9 pm. It will be a lot of fun!!!

Sofia Productions is proud to present the first Annual Miss Nevada Latina 2009 Pageant, the only official state preliminary pageant for the longest and most prestigious pageant the Miss Latina US. Unlike other Latina pageants, Miss Nevada Latina is admirable in that it promotes the highest standards and adheres to the strictest of requirements. Its mission is to not only portray Latina beauty in a positive way, but also to instill a sense of community and purpose by motivating young Latinas to attain their goals without interruption despite the challenges they face on a daily basis.
Sofia Productions will be holding its first of four Live Open Calls, to find the top 12 finalist; that will be competing for Miss Nevada Latina 2009. This open call will be held on Thursday September 4th & 11th, 2008; at the Pearl Champagne Lounge inside the Grand Sierra Resort Casino, doors will open at 6:00 pm.
Aspiring Latinas, between 18-26 year old, must pass a tough preliminary selection process. From 6 to 7:30 p.m. prospective delegates will be asked to fill out the official entry form, and they will be individually interviewed by a Sofia Productions talent scout, then from 7:30 to 9:00 pm they will be taking the salsa lesson taught by BB from Salsa Reno, as they will be judged on their synchronization (dancing), personality, social skills as well as poise and communication skills. Then the group of talent scouts from Sofia Productions and BB from Salsa Reno will be selecting a group of potential finalist delegates for a 2nd call. BB of Salsa Reno has been dancing Salsa for over 10 years and teaching since 2002 his current salsa mentors are John and Liz of Salsa mania in Oakland, CA, ranked sixth in the world and he is endorsed to teach Bachata by Rodney Rodchata Aquino, the most respected Bachata instructor in the Bay area.

The Miss Nevada Latina pageant is produced by Sofia Productions, a Los Angeles based events production and marketing company, founded by Xavier and Mayra Cagigas, former events planner for the Miss Brazil Latina USA.
