Little seen despite its 567 performance Broadway run, the show One Touch Venus improbably tells of a Grecian statue coming to life and becoming involved with a modern day barber. After Marlene Dietrich backed out during rehearsals (calling the show 'too sexy and profane'), Venus established Mary Martin as a true Broadway star.
