This talk has been timed to coincide with two events:
the opening of his solo show at the MCA, and the exhibition 'Supermodels' at St Margarets in Surry Hills.

The exhibition at the MCA will include older and new work and be supplemented by a major installation 'Shangri-La' at the Sydney Opera House. Angus references the world of architecture and design as well as that of nature (was his hydrocal Manta Ray of 2002 a portend of things to come?). Many of his sculptures employ the genre of the architectural model as well as iconic architectural forms. The liberties taken by Angus with Mies’ Lakeshore Drive (appropriately held in the collection of the Museum of Contemporary Art in Chicago) apartment building are physical. He has bent it like a banana, using computer-aided design software to calculate its new dimensions precisely. If you want to find out why and how he did this and more about his conceptual ambitions and use of new materials and processes, or just would like to be thoroughly entertained, then please join us.
