2009 marks the 40th anniversary of Quentin Skinner’s pathbreaking essay “Meaning and Understanding in the History of Ideas.” This afternoon conference will celebrate and critically evaluate Skinner’s work. Participants include Quentin Skinner, University of London; Bryan Garsten, Yale University; Melissa Lane, Cambridge University; Philip Pettit, Princeton University; and Nadia Urbinati, Columbia University. Moderated by Helena Rosenblatt, The Graduate Center, CUNY. This event is free and open to the public.
