Ohlone Wind Orchestra announces its Winter Concert

The Ohlone Wind Orchestra, California's Premier Wind Orchestra, announces its Fall Concert on Sunday, October 25, 2009, 2:00 pm at the Gary Soren Smith Center for the Fine and Performing Arts in Fremont, CA.

California's Premier Wind Orchestra presents a concert of classics and new compositions.

Classics include two movements from Alfred Reed's "Three Revelations - Lotus Sutra," with guest conductor Anthony Mazzaferro; Morton Lauridsen's "O Magnum Mysterium," and selections from John Williams' "Raiders of the Lost Ark," plus

Derek Bourgeois' "Trombone Concerto," featuring John Monroe, trombone.

New works include "Tour de Force," composed by tubist Jim Self, and the world premiere of Brent Heisinger's "Soulscape."

The Ohlone Wind Orchestra (OWO), "California's Premier Wind Orchestra," directed by Tony Clements, is a leading professional quality US wind ensemble. The band is comprised of 50 woodwind, brass and percussion players. The performs an eclectic blend of music, ranging from Bach to Broadway and beyond.
