OFFICER KICKS debut single DOG DAY RUSH / SHOOTERS HILL
download/ltd cd Redemption Records 15th October + UK Tour from 2nd October.
Brit rock anthem, Dog Day Rush, is a fitting introduction to Officer Kicks who are currently building a fine reputation amongst audiences and the hot acts of the moment, as well as rock n roll’s old guard. Writing “Infuriatingly catchy songs” (Independent On Sunday) and being hailed "One of the best live bands I have ever seen" (Dave Berry, MTV) , they are becoming addictive as word gets around...
2007 has already seen Officer Kicks tour with Jack Penate, adding to their previous shows with Nine Black Alps, The Holloways, and Lethal Bizzle as well as Club NME dates and a request to return to The Secret Garden Party Festival (which they stormed). Mani (Primal Scream/Stone Roses) had them in to record a live session for his Manchester radio show and XFM Scotland and London are among radio stations already spinning (including playlists / Single Of The Week / interviews etc... ) to favourable public response to this addictive band.
Dog Day Rush tells the all too familiar tale of everyman’s struggle with commuting, bad jobs and shitty wages, complete with big chanty sing-along choruses and sparky humour. Such cheeky tomfoolery dominates the lyrics, stage performance, life and general demeanour of Officer Kicks; Keith Wickham (drums), Jamie Scallion (vocals), Mike Skill (bass) and Fisher (guitar).
Having played music together as mates since school, this South London gang are tight as brothers. With high aspirations and an effervescent collective spirit, they live the rock n roll dream they envisaged together when they formed the band. They write hooky as hell, good time new wave rock and play every show as if it were a bawdy house party going down whilst your parents are out of town.
Fisher and Skill lead the vanguard of excess within the band, Jamie was a frontrunner until his liver packed up. Fisher’s lung collapsed during a sound check, but believing it was a touch of asthma, his fellow members prescribed him a triple Jack Daniels and a cigarette. Two serious operations and a fortnight in hospital later one of his testicles exploded during a gig on a boat...
Somehow still in one piece, Officer Kicks are bringing their chipper songs to your radio waves and theatre near you;
a DOG DAY RUSH AROUND THE UK...

“In 2005 we, Officer Kicks, made a band. Fanatical about making a record on our own terms we decided to raise the money ourselves. After hundreds of bring and buy sales, street theatre appearances and car washing marathons we saved enough sheckles to go to the best residential studio in the land. We spent three weeks perfecting The Six Grand Plot, an album that can only be described as unsafe, muscular and whip like. We then decided to brush up on the live performance. We played Over fifty times in 2006 (UK and Europe), mixed the album at the famous Olympic studio and mastered it with the legend that is Ray Staff (Led Zep, Bowie, Libertines etc). Then we signed a deal with Redemption records. We are not really ones for studio trickery and prefer to take a more classic approach. We not afraid to indulge in a ballad or accidentally write a tune that will touch a wider audience. We steer well clear of pretentious twattery and that, in my book, makes us O.K.”
