Hailed by the San Francisco Examiner for its "exuberant repertory... daredevil intensity and considerable emotional candor," ODC/Dance returns to The Joyce with its ten magnificent dancers to celebrate the company's 40th anniversary. Artistic Director and Founder Brenda Way presents the New York premiere of Waving Not Drowning (A Guide to Elegance), her wry treatment of culture, fashion, manners and feminine perspectives set to a commissioned score by Pamela Z. The program also includes Co-Artistic Director KT Nelson's piece Grassland, performed to a commissioned score by Marcelo Zarvos; and Way's shape-shifting piece In the Memory of the Forest, named one of the top ten dance pieces in San Francisco in 2009, that touches on her late mother-in-law's memories of flight from Warsaw in 1941.
