Ame to Ame (Candy and Rain)
A twisted and romantic hybrid butoh-dance piece that plays on the Japanese word "Ame," meaning either 'candy' or 'rain'. Dubbed the "Ginger Rogers and Fred Astaire of Butoh" by the San Francisco Bay Guardian, Shinichi Iova-Koga, ODC Theater Artist in Residence and collaborator Yuko Kaseki, a Berlin-based artist, throw themselves into this duet directed and designed by Marc Ates. Ame to Ame challenges us to walk on clouds, provoking the real topic: the return to earth.
