ODC Theater and Smith/Wymore Disappearing Acts Present
"Apparatus"
Feb 25-27, 8pm

"Apparatus" is a witty, wild, and interactive new dance theater piece that uses the language of cinema to reveal the complex layers involved in performing one's self--whether it's on the stage, in front of the camera, or in real life. Inspired by "L'Avventura", Antonioni's classic film from the 60's, "Apparatus" is an intricate and humorous new work that peels back and exposes the insecurities that lurk beneath the many surfaces of identity. The work features a fictional team of actors, directors and crew struggling to shoot a movie. With intensely physical movement, live film and audience interaction, "Apparatus" is a beautifully intricate and fragile puzzle that teeters constantly on the edge of collapse. Smith/Wymore Disappearing Acts is best known for its intricate multi-media dance theater work that combines sophisticated choreography with clever uses of technology and with "Apparatus" they'll set out to deliver an evening that is as entertaining as it is experimental.
