Set against our technological time-driven world, Ledoh and video artist Perry Hallinan will create a dedicated space to unfold the complexities of our relationship to nature and one another against a backdrop of urban decay. Drawing on the slow, organic elements of classic Butoh, Suicide Barrier will captivate the viewer and challenge our concept of what is human. Parallels are explored between cooperative "superorganisms"-like anthills or beehives-and elements of our own culture. In a world out of whack and subject to unnatural warming, new tribal structures arise, adapting to tolerating unprecedented rates of ecological change.

Suicide Barrier: secure in our illusion is commissioned and produced by Circuit Network with funding from the San Francisco Arts Commission Cultural Equity Grants Program, the Center for Cultural Innovation, CEC-Artslink, National Endowment for the Arts, San Francisco Foundation, Theatre Bay Area, and Zellerbach Family Foundation and additional support from Artisterium 10 (Tbilisi, Georgia), Luggage Store Gallery, and Rob Bailis and ODC Theater.
