Oakland Symphony Chorus 2012-2013 Season Opens Nov. 3 November 3, 2012

Following a successful summer season, the Oakland Symphony Chorus has announced its 2012-2013 54th annual concert season, Music Director Dr. Lynne Morrow describes as "steeped in tradition, deepening our understanding of great works of sacred choral music." The three-program season will open with Brahms' German Requiem with the Young People's Symphony Orchestra, Saturday, November 3, at 8 p.m. at Walnut Creek Presbyterian Church. Unlike the Roman Catholic litergy which begins with prayers for the dead, Brahms' Requiem focuses on the living, emphasizing the theme of transition from anxiety to comfort. The piece will be performed in the original German.
