13th Annual Hands On New York Day
Saturday, April 21, 2007
On Saturday, April 21, thousands of caring New Yorkers will take spring cleaning to a new level by cleaning, painting and revitalizing our city's public spaces, including: parks, gardens, playgrounds, community centers, homeless shelters and schools.
Over 4000 volunteers are expected covering dozens of projects throughout the 5 boroughs.
" The rain couldn't dampen the spirits of the thousands of volunteers who participated in the 12th Annual Hands On New York Day. Almost all of the planned 74 projects went ahead despite the weather; volunteers raked leaves; removed trash and winter debris; pruned trees and bushes; painted murals and community centers; repaired fences; planted hundreds of shrubs and bulbs and completed numerous other tasks to revitalize the community spaces we all enjoy. Congratulations to everyone who braved the wind and the rain to help make New York City cleaner and greener for the warm summer months! "
