NY Blues Singer, Kathy Leonardo Set to Perform Wednesday August 12th At Dannys Venice Beach Bistro & Bar August 12, 2009

Photo by Steve DePena What a night it will be, an evening of FREE Blues Wednesday, August 12th, 7:15 pm at Dannys Venice Beach Bistro & Bar. (23 Windward Ave.) Singer/Songwriter Kathy Leonardo will be singing her own original sassy Blues and some selected Patsy Cline covers. She has also invited some special musical guests to join her.

Leonardo has invited her good friend Greg Cruz an incredible country/blues guitarist to kick off the show as well as to sit in with her as she plays her rousing strong woman original blues.

Kathy Leonardo, a 4’11” feisty dynamo mostly known for her Strong Woman Blues is originally from New York. Being a professional actress/singer and having worked on Broadway, gives Kathy a vibrant slant to her live performances. Her touching ballads are a wonderful compliment to her side splitting blues numbers….where she exposes the hilarity of single life and dating. Her wise cracks and story telling between each song brighten every stage she lands on.

Greg Cruz has been a Venice regular musician since 1989. Having cut his chops in Venice as well as booking gigs such as the House of blues where he was a fixture at the Porch Restaurant Lunch hour weekdays for years. He also was a warm up act for the hit show "Friends" and The Ellen Degenres show. He mastered blues guitar backing the late James Mitchell Jr. and then he learned the country style while on tour across America with the late Paschel Feltner.
