Marion Carnegie Library will host a program by Second Nature Wildlife Rehabilitation Facility director Pam Sundeen on Tuesday, March 24 at 6 p.m. She will discuss solutions to the problems caused by nuisance animals. The program is free and open to the public.

Nuisance animals include squirrels, skunks and raccoons. Sundeen will present measures to encourage them to leave, what to do if they invade attics or basements, what to expect if they nest with offspring and how to co-exist with wildlife. Spring is the season for babies to be born and if animals have access to areas under a porch, shed or garage, they will try to nest.

Second Nature is located in Thompsonville and is dedicated to providing a sound environment for all orphaned, injured, abandoned or separated wildlife. They care for the animals and assure them the necessary skills to successfully return to the wild. Second Nature is licensed by the Illinois Department of Natural Resources and they serve all of southern Illinois. They care for wildlife such as rabbits, squirrels, raccoons, opossum, groundhogs, foxes and coyotes. Second Nature is funded by donations and run by volunteers. For more information about volunteering, donating, offering a release site or reporting an orphaned or injured animal, call Second Nature at 618-627-2000.
