30% of Canadians will experience a critical illness before age 65 ...and most of them will survive it.

When people are discharged from medical care given the "all-clear" or given a maintenance routine, they often express a feeling of being "abandoned" as they are left to figure out what to do in order to avoid secondary illnesses and relapses.

While there are many success stories of integrating natural health solutions (such as diet/nutrition, physical activity, stress reduction, complementary therapies), most people do not have a research background and find it difficult to evaluate the information available.

We identified three common negative outcomes to navigating the world of health options alone:
1. Missed vital contraindications (just because a product is natural does not mean that it will not interact with other substances);
2. Falling for unscrupulous practices and products; and
3. Being overwhelmed by the information available and giving up.

This is our way of addressing these concerns.

Join us as we bring together practitioners from mainstream and complementary care with survivors to open a dialogue on the issues involved in integrating complementary therapies into post-illness maintenance programs.
