The 1922 silent classic by F.W. Murnau will feature live accompaniment by renowned silent film composer/arranger Gillian Anderson and members of the Ann Arbor Symphony Orchestra. A young man leaves his wife to travel to Transylvania, the land of thieves and ghosts. He has high hopes for a lucrative real estate deal with the mysterious Count Orlock (Max Schreck). In the time he spends at the Orlock mansion, he experiences terror upon terror, ultimately realizing that the rumors regarding Orlock are apparently true -- that he is a blood-sucking hellion. Murnau’s account of the Dracula tale was the first of its kind and is still considered to be the most chilling vampire movie ever made. Though not for tiny toddlers, the film is appropriate for families.
