This FREE event is being conducted to celebrate Junior Ranger Day, National Park Week and Children and Nature Awareness Month. With Fort Vancouver National Historic Site--part of our National Park System--located in the heart of the Portland-Vancouver metro area AND with our nation becoming more urban, NPCA and NPS are working to make it easier for Americans to connect to the amazing legacy we share in our national parks. Northwest national parks are fascinating, scenic, dynamic, exciting and fun...and we want to share this message with kids and families in the Portland-Vancouver area.

On Saturday, April 26, 10 a.m.-3 p.m., come and have fun learning all that our Northwest national parks have to offer:

*Meet President Teddy Roosevelt, who was responsible for the creation of several of our national parks and monuments!
*Learn how to set up a tent with our friends from REI!
*Meet live animals that you may see in our Northwest national parks!
*Sample food you might prepare while camping in a national park!
*Meet National Park Rangers who will teach you about places like Mount Rainier, people like Lewis and Clark and historic events like the Klondike Gold Rush!
*Meet author David Louter who wrote "Windshield Wilderness"!
*Become a Junior Ranger!
*Learn how to take photographs while visiting national parks!

...and much, much more!

The event will take place in and around the Vancouver National Historic Reserve Visitor Center, located at 1501 East Evergreen, Vancouver, WA 98661, just south of Officers Row, 200 yards east of the Bandstand.
