Nordic Lounge: Drum 'N Bass Concerto

Drum'n Bass meets classical music in a world premiere of a new composition by Swedish composer Karl McFaul. What happens when you have a composer who is a former pop and hip-hop producer creating a piano concerto for a classical concert pianist? The concept for the Drum n' Bass Concerto emerged when the pianist Per Tengstrand and composer Karl McFaul used to go to different nightclubs in Malm, Sweden. Is it possible to merge some of the frenetic rhythmic energies and timbre of club music into the larger momentum and polyphony of symphonic music? The idea for a new piano concerto was born. The program also includes Per Nrgrd's Constellations and Magnus Mrtensson's Kvasir. After the performance in Victor Borge Hall, meet the performers and Mr. McFaul in Scandinavia House's own Nordic Lounge. $15 ($10 ASF members)
