Hands On Bay Area organizes and leads team-oriented volunteer programs around the entire Bay Area that strengthen communities and empower individuals.

Hands On Bay Area is kicking off it's first series of Leadership Institute Fellowship Teams (LIFT). The goal is to help participants deepen their knowledge of the nonprofit sector and grassroots community organizing. Leadership Fellows will support the staff and mission of Hands On Bay Area.
Benefits
Fellows will gain transferable skills and knowledge in:
* Nonprofit organizational support
* Volunteer recruitment and outreach
* Program development
* Group facilitation
* Nonprofit management

Fellows will also:
* Develop their personal leadership capabilities
* Acquire technical skills in media, public speaking, and communication strategies.
* Work to improve community and civic life.
* Collaboratively create an action plan.
* Meet Hands On Bay Area Board Members, and ED.
* Have the opportunity to sit on the Board Programming Committee.
* Receive several trainings on the nonprofit sector, social issues and more

Requirements
Fellows will:
* Commit to a full-day retreat on a Saturday, June 23rd, 2007
* Attend 10 monthly evening meetings (one per month from July - April)
* Attend quarterly trainings
* Present their accomplishments at an evening graduation session in May 2008
* Commit an additional 5-10 hours per month for the practical skills application component, which will be done individually and with regional teams
* Work with their regional team to accomplish their goals
* Must be 18 years of age or older to apply

Application Process
If selected, there will be a non-refundable $100 fee that will be applied to materials, training supplies and will be used as the working budget for the team. (A limited number of scholarships will be available on a needs basis). Applicants will be notified of their acceptance by Friday, June 8th.

Application Deadline May 25th, Training begins June 23rd
