NON STOP BHANGRA MIXES IT UP IN OAKLAND!

One of San Francisco's hottest world music parties is coming to Oakland to rock it with their East Bay family! After years of sold out nights and thousands of hands in the air, the crew behind the Non Stop Bhangra sound is heading East to bring a killer line up of top Bay Area talent to The New Parish. Highlighting the ancestral roots of Punjabi dance while pushing boundaries with contemporary influences, Non Stop Bhangra is a genre-busting elixir of North Indian Bhangra music and dance mixed with reggae, hip-hop and electronica. Featuring dance lessons and performances with Dholrhythms Dance Company, accompanied by Pavit(live Dhol) and music by DJ Jimmy Love, the group has won legions of fans with its monthly events in San Francisco. With an ever-evolving collective of dancers, DJs, drummers, vocalists and musicians, Non Stop Bhangra is a non-stop party.

Joining the NSB crew for this event is OM Records mix master J-Boogie and this year's Bay Area DMC Champion DJ Sol Rising alongside the party starting voice of Aima The Dreamer.

DJ JIMMY LOVE: Non Stop Bhangra Founder Jimmy Love is pretty Indian for a white guy. From holding his own at an Indian wedding to creating the largest Bhangra monthly in San Francisco, his pure love and experience playing all styles of music has led him to grow out the musical blend that is the NSB sound.

Jimmy has been rocking out the SF Scene with his unique blend of world and hip-hop mixes for years, recently beginning to bridge the gap between Eastern and Western dance floors all over the world. DJ J. BOOGIE: San Francisco resident DJ/producer J-Boogie has challenged the boundaries of music across genres, styles, languages and borders throughout his 20 year career. He speaks to his listeners, integrating musical genres like downtempo, hip-hop, dub, soul, reggae, funk, Latin, afro-beat, bhangra, dancehall, disco, dubstep, electro and house music. Incorporating musicians and vocalists into a live band/DJ fusion set, J-Boogie has truly re-defined the concept of what it is to be a DJ. He brings this style to life with his band “Dubtronic Science” featuring a full horn section, Latin percussionists and MC’s. Performing as a solo DJ or with the full band, J-Boogie is always guaranteed to get the party started.

DJ SOL RISING: DJ Sol Rising (formerly DJ Skwint) began DJing at the age of 17 out of his parents’ basement, deep in the corn fields of Iowa. Out of his love for hip-hop music and the desire to be involved in the culture, Sol Rising taught himself how to scratch and mix by watching videos of old competitions and emulating DJs such as Craze and A-Trak. Despite the lack of DJ culture in a town of only 10,000 people, Sol Rising’s passion carried him to place in some of the most reputable DJ competitions in the world at the age of twenty-one, only four years into his career. Since then, Sol Rising’s sets have morphed into an eclectic mix of world, electronica, hip-hop, funk, soul, reggae, house, and turntablism.

AIMA THE DREAMER:
For those in the know, Aima the Dreamer has been rockin' crowds for years as a vocalist and MC with groups such as J-Boogie's Dubtronic Science, The Mamaz, Goddess Alchemy Project and Jazz Mafia's Brass, Bows and Beats Hip-Hop Symphony. All of this in addition to her own solo project has given her a variety of outlets with which to harness her energy as not only a talented MC and vocalist, but also as a strong, feminine woman who easily holds her own amongst a male-dominated industry.

Inspired by her family and friends, Aima cites the Bay Area as one of the biggest influences in her music; "I want to make music for all ages and especially for the young girls and women out there. I am inspired by all the great music that comes out of the Bay Area on a daily. It is truly a blessing to be surrounded by such open mindedness, revolutionary ideas, and beautifully talented people."
