6061 University Avenue
Halifax, Nova Scotia

When ? April 23, 2008, 7 p.m.

Where ? Room 104 Dalhousie Law Building

Who? Sponsored by Voice of Women for Peace (VOW), Physicians for
Global Survival (PGS) and Nova Scotia Environmental Network (NSEN);
open to everyone seeking a safer, more peaceful planet.

What? Pat Kipping will introduce "NO NUKES IS GOOD NUKES!", an
inspiring 50 minute film capturing the excitement of the grassroots
movement that succeeded in making New Zealand a nuclear-free zone.

Unforgettable images of small sailboats, and even solo kayakers,
confronting huge American nuclear warships will encourage us to try
harder to protect Halifax Harbour, or to deal with any current burning
issue through powerful peaceful protest.

What else? Brief presentations from Nancy Covington of PGS on recent international efforts to get rid of nuclear weapons, and Gillian Thomas with news of revived campaign to keep the ban on uranium mining in Nova Scotia.

Opportunity for questions and discussion, social time with
refreshments.

Why? Networking! Identifying people who are passionate about peace and justice issues but don't perhaps belong to any existing group. Joining together for strength. Sharing ideas and strategies for engaging more public concern.
