From the first two dictators, Lenin and Stalin, to Khrushchev, Brezhnev, Andropov, Gorbachev, Yeltsin and Putin, the history of leaders in the Soviet Union and the Cold War and post-Communist Russia reveals both conservative and reformist tendencies. This series looks closely at the most intriguing and dramatic aspects of the history of the Soviet Union and at social and cultural policy in Russia today.
