As part of the festivities around its 40th birthday, Berkeley Repertory Theatre is pleased to announce this year’s dates for night/OUT, its wildly popular series of events for the lesbian/gay/bisexual/transgender community. The party gets started at 8:00 PM on Thursday, September 6 with a performance of Heartbreak House, the comedic masterpiece from Nobel Prize-winner George Bernard Shaw staged by renowned director Les Waters – and the celebration continues late into the night.

Gay.com calls night/OUT “a disco party, complete with glitter ball, live DJ, cocktails, and dessert. Cast members hang out with fans, sign autographs, and talk about their plays… Berkeley Rep theatregoers cherish the opportunity to meet kindred spirits in a comfortable, friendly environment. Some meet new friends or find theatre mates for life, but many attend with longtime partners or go to catch up with old acquaintances. It’s more of a ‘meet-cute’ than a meat market… Guests represent a wide social, economic, ethnic, and gender range from college students to retirees.”

Now in its seventh year, night/OUT combines Tony Award-winning theatre with fabulous receptions for the LGBT community. This season, the party resumes on Thursday, November 8 with Argonautika, another exhilarating adventure from Tony Award-winning director Mary Zimmerman. Then, on Thursday, February 14, it concludes with a special Valentine’s performance of Wishful Drinking, a hilarious new show written and performed by Hollywood legend Carrie Fisher.

All of these productions are presented in Berkeley Rep’s Roda Theatre at 2015 Addison Street in downtown Berkeley, only one block from BART and close to AC Transit bus lines. At each event, the post-play reception features gourmet finger foods, gorgeous blossoms from Darling Flower Shop, dance music mixed by a cutting-edge DJ, and complimentary drinks courtesy of Raymond Vineyards and Triple Rock Brewery.

Tickets to night/OUT begin at $37. Students and seniors can save $10 by purchasing rush tickets one hour before curtain, and half-price seats are available for anyone under 30 years of age. True party animals can reserve seats for all three shows for as little as $105.
