Danish Dance Theatre
Establishedin 1981 the Danish Dance Theatre is one of the major forces incontemporary dance in Denmark. The British born Tim Rushton took overthe artistic leadership in 2001. Under his direction, the company hasgained an international presence and enjoyed acclaim throughout Europe,North America, Australia and the Middle East. The vision of the DanishDance Theatre is to push the borders of the perception of dance. Thegap between contemporary and classical dance is the signatureplayground of Tim Rushton and the company.

Tim Rushton
Artistic Director and choreographer of the Danish Dance Theatre
TimRushton was born in 1963 in Birmingham, England. He was educated at TheRoyal Ballet in London and was an active dancer, mainly at companies innorthern Europe, until the mid-90′ies. He ended his career as a dancerat The Royal Danish Ballet in order to focus on choreography. He gainedrapid respect as creator of modern dance, using classical technique andwas commissioned by many dance- and ballet companies. He earnednominations and awards for his work.
In 2001 Tim Rushton was appointed Artistic Director of the DanishDance Theatre. Very fast he rebooted the company, with a new strongartistic profile. Since his take-over, the company has developed itselfinto a remarkable institution, producing fascinating pieces and eventsboth nationally and internationally. In 2004 he and the company had itsdebut at Jacobs Pillow Dance Festival in Massachusetts. In 2005 theDanish Dance Theatre moved into its permanent home in the heart ofCopenhagen.
And Tim Rushton continuous creates new pieces for a bigger and morededicated audience. In 2006, a.o. at Dance Salad Festival in Houston,Texas and again at Jacobs Pillow Dance Festival.
