"Night Music"
Serenade for String Trio - Erno Dohnanyi
Clarinet Trio - Johannes Brahms
The Mydnyte Sun - David Jaedyn Conley
La Creation du Monde - Suite de Concert - Darius Milhaud

Stephanie Chase and Michi Wiancko, violin; Hsin-Yun Huang, viola; Julie Albers and Darrett Adkins, 'cello; Jon Manasse, clarinet; and Frank Levy, piano.

About "Night Music": The "Serenade" is music meant to be performed in the evening - la sera - under the stars, and Dohnanyi's folk-tinged work is a compelling tour de force. Brahms's beautiful "Clarinet Trio" is the result of his having been inspired, late in life, by the extraordinary artistry of clarinetist Richard Muhlfeld. The Society is delighted to present the American premiere of David Jaedyn Conley's mesmerizing string quartet, "The Mydnyte Sun" - featuring movements such as "Astronomica" and "The Inevitability of Night" - and will close the program with Milhaud's "La Creation du Monde," inspired by the night music of 1920's Harlem and heard here in his "Suite de Concert" version for piano quintet.
