Sleep is that natural state when we let go of waking consciousness in order to allow the physiology to replenish itself in rest from a full day's activity. Modern science nowadays confirms that the human brain is rested only during two states: a) sleep, and b) meditation.

During the day, we tend to be highly active, and for that the brain requires high amounts of energy in order to process all our activities. Scientific findings conclude that the brain needs about 120g of glucose every day (approximately 25% of the energy requirement of a normal resting adult).

In addition to energy supplied through diet, the brain needs regular periods of deep rest in order to cope with the stress accumulated on the nervous system in a highly competitive and fast-track world. The constant nutritional demands on the brain and undue burden on the life processes, compounded by lack of good sleep, is associated with hormonal imbalance, growth hormone imbalance, premature aging, etc.

Of the three main pillars of total health (Ahara — right choice of food; Nidra — restful sleep; Bramacharya — good code of conduct, routine, and behavior), the Veda shastras or vedic texts name sleep as the second most important.

Vaidya Mishra of SVA lineage will elaborate on the second most important pillar of life mentioned in the Vedas — the necessity of "Restful/Blissful Sleep" for good overall health (physical, mental, emotional, and spiritual). He will also share the wisdom of his ancient familial lineage.

Some of the questions Vaidya Mishra will elaborate upon are:

•What is sleep — according to the Carak Samhita — description from sutras.
•What are the etiological factors for bad/disturbed sleep?
•What are the supporting factors for good sleep?
•Effect of imbalanced sleep on the physical body.
•Effect of bad sleep on mind and body and on vibrational and physical channels.
•Connection between Sleep and "Aging."
•Benefits of good sleep.
•Ayurvedic way of promoting quality and quantity of good sleep by supporting the physical channels by good food, routine, behavior, herbal teas, spices, and exercise.
•Enhancing the quality and quantity of good sleep by supporting the nadis.
•Effect of EMF on nadis and how they disturb the sleep.
•How to manage the EMF impact.
