Wednesday, February 18, 7:30 pm
Presented in conjunction with the new exhibit at the 16th Street J’s Ann Loeb Bronfman Gallery

Scholar Ron Arons tells the true story of Jewish gangsters and other shady characters who served time “up the [Hudson] river.” After discovering that his grandfather had been sentenced to time in Sing Sing Prison, Arons set out to tell the stories of more than a dozen famous gangsters and lesser-known criminals involved in Jewish criminal activity in New York City. With the help of information found in newspaper articles as well as FBI files, court documents and prison admission records The Jews of Sing Sing tells the tale of the Jewish criminals who spent time at Sing Sing, the famous maximum security prison in Ossining, NY. Ron Arons appeared in the PBS mini-series The Jewish Americans as an expert on New York’s Lower East Side criminals.
