Nextbook Book Group September 24, 2007

The Nextbook Book Group meets monthly at the Evanston Public Library. This discussion group is facilitated by Lori Sagarin. Nextbook provides a gateway to Jewish literature, culture and ideas. On Monday, September 24, at 7 p.m. the group will discuss Jews and Power, by Ruth Wisse. Wisse, a professor of Yiddish Literature and Comparative Literature at Harvard, looks at how Jews have often tried to make a virtue out of powerlessness, while their enemies have exaggerated and demonized Jewish power.
