Wednesday, September 12, New York Night Train's soul proprietor will be joined behind the booth by Mr Bill Whitten of Grand Mal fame. After recording a slew of indie and major label releases as the leader of St. Johnny, Whitten founded Grand Mal, which, five albums and dozens of tall tales down the line, has become an undeniable New York institution (go here to read a little more about Bill and here to read a lot more about Bill). You can expect him to play all the greats - particularly classic New York punk, British glam, and all the Stones and Stooges and Groovies as well. Got rock if you want it!

New York Night Train is currently curating weekly parties on Wednesdays at Motor City (127 Ludlow btwn Rivington and Delancey). Not only will you hear the mix of funky obscurities, underground standards, and new experiments that the New York Night Train DJs've become known for, but also the unique musical perspective of a different guest DJ from NYC's underground music community.every week. Past guests include include members of The Cramps, Nick Cave and the Bad Seeds, Grinderman, Butthole Surfers, Yeah Yeah Yeahs, Dirty 3, Catpower, Hot Snakes, The Gun Club, TV on the Radio, Make-Up, Excepter, Lubricated Goat, Early Man, Nation of Ulysses, Vietnam, Sonic Youth, Bad Wizard, Mercury Rev, Pussy Galore, and many more.
