"Sea Cruise” with Melissa Fanni Tutti

Our typically eclectic r’n’r-centric marathon features expert power pop selector Melissa Fanni Tutti and yours truly. Melissa, who co-founded Miami’s Revolver party and spent years honing her knowledge at Rocks in Your Head, currently plays drums for the Crystal Stilts and both spins and slings drinks at downtown’s finest watering holes. Neither of us will bring anything without at least a few claps, snaps, slaps, and even occasional 1970s chaps (for gentlemen of discerning taste) – a splash of doo wop, early New Orleans r&b, girl group, Dictators, Dolls, Ramones, etc.… I will also tote along a set of animal-themed early 1960s dance-songs assembled for a party last weekend. FREE!

All summer long, we sang a song and strolled on golden sand… but the approach of Labor Day, that symbolic finale, warns us that the summer wind will soon blow cold, beach umbrellas will be packed away, and the boardwalk will empty. Before this season is reduced to a colorful assemblage of friendly ghosts, New York Night Train refuses to let the summer hits go gentle into that autumn goodnight. Before we fade to fall, the curious collection of AM summer soul, rock, girl group, and bubblegum jams that peppered the otherwise underground-ish DJ sets the last few months will take two final curtain calls before getting packed away along with my white shoes....
