When poet Austin Kleon was recently featured on NPR's Morning Edition they described his Newspaper Blackout Poems by saying, “instead of starting with a blank page, poet Austin Kleon grabs a newspaper and a permanent marker and eliminates the words he doesn't need.”

Chicago based music organization Access Contemporary Music is sponsoring a concert of songs set to these Newspaper Blackout Poems. Alternately funny, angry, whimsical and always spare, these poems lend themselves perfectly to musical interpretation.

Reception to follow.
