This is day #1 of the Fort Adams Sate Park events of the Newport Jazz Festival.

The event is held over the course of three days at two of the city’s historic landmarks: the International Tennis Hall of Fame at the Newport Casino and Fort Adams State Park. Started in 1954, the Newport Jazz Festival was the first jazz festival in America. Referred to as the mother of all jazz festivals, the event draws thousands of people from all over the world to Newport, Rhode Island, a city which is famed in its own right for its spectacular coastal scenery and awe-inspiring architecture.

The 2011 Newport Jazz Festival is a production of Newport Festivals Foundation, Inc., a pending 501(c)(3) non-profit corporation, under license from Festival Productions, Inc. and George Wein; all rights reserved.
