Join the Newfoundland Dog Club of New England to continue the Holiday tradition of the Christmas Tree Pull on Saturday, December 5, 2009, from 11:00AM until 3:00 PM at Smolak Farms.

The tradition continues this year at Smolak Farms. Each year, families go out into the fields to choose and cut their Christmas tree! The varieties of trees at the Farm include Fraser Fir, Balsam Fir, Douglas Fir and Concolor Fir. The Newfoundland dogs, often termed the “Gentle Giants” will be at Smolak Farms to pull Christmas Trees, assist families by taking the trees to the vehicles, pose for pictures, and if there’s snow they will give rides for the little ones!

The Newfoundland Dogs are massive animals, known not only for their gentle temperaments, but their unexcelled swimming ability and instinctual penchant for rescue. A member of the Working Dog breed, the Newfoundland is the only breed in existence that has the instinctual water rescue ability. Because of their size and strength; The Newfoundland Dogs are excellent draft dogs and when combined with their swimming ability, have actually been used in Newfoundland by fisherman to haul in fishing nets from the ocean.

Donations will be accepted. All profits will be donated to the Lazarus House and the Newfoundland Rescue organization. Please also consider donating canned goods for the Lazarus House Holiday Dinner. All donations will be greatly appreciated.

Don’t miss this memorable holiday experience for the family!
