The New York Philharmonic, founded in 1842, has been in continuous operation throughout two-thirds of our nation's history and has played a leading role in American musical life and development. Kurt Masur conducts Liszt's Les Preludes, Brahms's Symphony No. 1 in C Minor, Op. 68 and the New Jersey premiere of the Concerto for Two Violas by contemporary Russian composer Sofia Gubaidulina.
