THE QUINTESSENTIAL ANTI-SXSW PARTY TURNS 5 w/47 BANDS!

While Mr Jonathan Toubin is busy with a slew of DJ gigs at SXSW (Thu the 18th dance at High Ball Bowling Alley, Fri the 19th two TBA gigs, and Sat the 20th, the Vice party) followed by two nights at Todd P's MtyMx festival in Monterrey (Mar 20th and 21st), the big New York Night Train event in Austin weekend will be the 5th Annual New York Night Train SXSW Hoodang at Spider House - featuring 47 amazing bands from all over the world on a 4 stages from Noon to 2am. This event is co-presented by comrade in arms Panache Booking with a little help from NYC amigos Cake Shop and Sacred Bones Records. The indoor stage was co-curated by Jason McNeely of Spider House. This NYC promoting DJ, booking agency, venue, and record label have banded together out of friendship and solidarity to bring a sponsorship-free day of the kind of high quality old school communal underground music fun that rarely rears its head these days.

We've chosen to execute the party yet again at this relaxed oasis of courtyard tables, food, and drink as an alternative to the less comfortable downtown music events - in hopes that this will yet again be a destination instead of a stop-off. However, since it's only three blocks from the University of Texas, this popular institution is easy to reach by a variety of city buses that run up and down Guadalupe (The Drag) every few minutes taking you downtown and back (roughly a 10 min ride).

Don't take our word for it, just ask anybody - last year's all-day/all-night fiesta, headlined by The Seeds' Sky Saxon (R.I.P.), was the unofficial SXSW jam of the year. This one's even bigger and better. Don't miss out!
