King's velvet voice delivers these timeless hits of American Songbook lyricist, Johnny Mercer with tasteful upbeat modern grooves. Her expansive knowledge of the life and times of Mercer is woven throughout the show with stories that truly engage the audience into hanging on to every word. King says, "I welcome the opportunity to present his music to a new generation of listeners, who may be acquainted with perhaps only a few of his more popular numbers." Mercer wrote for 90 movies, graced the American Songbook with 1500 songs, nominated for 18 and took home four Academy Awards. A collaborator with 230 musical composers, Mercer founded the Songwriters Hall of Fame, plus co-founded Capitol Records. Mercer wrote for four decades from the 1930's through the 60's. with such hits as Days of Wine and Roses, Moon River, Something's Gotta Give, Laura, One For My Baby and many more.

Accompanying her on this musical Mercer experience is Boston-born Jef Labes, an experienced individual performer in the Bay Area, musically directing this show. Labes has worked with many top songwriters and vocalists, including Van Morrison and Bonnie Raitt. "Jef is a jewel to perform with. He's so talented, upbeat, insightful and fun." says King.
